Counting Blessings

Thank you to everyone who attended the Bad Hombres pop-up last Monday night. It was truly a festive occasion with authentic carnitas, salsas, vegetable side dishes, flan for dessert. Rogelio and Andre did an excellent job with the food. It was fun to see them in the dining room explaining the different dishes and giving a little bit of context as to how carnitas are served in Michoacan, Mexico.

We love to do special nights. It keeps it interesting for us in the kitchen and creates a different way of interacting with customers in the dining room. We will keep going with the Mexican pop-up once a month as long as people are interested in showing up for it. It will be fun to move through the regions and present food as you would find it if you were there.

Next week is Thanksgiving and we’ll be closed on Thursday. The past few years we have offered prepared dinners for the holiday, but I have not gotten my act together this year and the holiday snuck up on me. So, we won’t be able to make it happen in any serious way. However, if there is something you were really hoping to have please send me an email and we’ll see if we can make it for you.

Ready or not, the holiday season is upon us. It’s as good a time as any to count blessings. I am particularly thankful this year that my entire family is now located in southern California. Because we live close to each other, we are able to support each other and celebrate with each other in a way that hasn’t been possible for over 20 years.

I am also massively grateful for The Park family that has evolved over the years. The staff, former and present, our customers, former and present; we have all conspired to keep this restaurant project alive and growing. As motley of a crew as we may be, there is a family here and I am happy to be a part of it and I am thrilled that you all have made yourselves a part of it too.
